The Ijen Plateau lies in the centre of the Ijen - Merapi - Maelang Reserve, which extends over much of the mountainous region to the west of Banyuwangi, bordering or, the Baluran National Park. A luminous blue/green crater lake which surface is streaked in wind-blown patterns of yellow sulphur lies at the far eastern end of the plateau and is without doubt one of the most impressive of East Java's natural wonders.

The word of “G” in “G-Land” derives from Grajagan, the name of the bay where the huge waves were found at the south of the Banyuwangi. It is surrounded by virgin tropical land forest. Situated south coast of Java faces the Indian Ocean, so it is exposed to large swells generated by low pressure systems circling Antarctica, many thousands of kilometers to the south. G-Land is situated on the eastern side of the Bay of Grajagan, so it has a westerly aspect, like at rightangles to the predominant swell direction. As a result, swell wraps around the point and into the eastern side of the bay, producing long, walling left-handers, which peel at a rapid rate along a half kilometer stretch of shallow coral reef, forming perfectly hollow tubes that remain open the whole way.

G-Land is located in the southern part of Banyuwangi, East Java. G-Land derived from Grajagan , the name of the particular spot (and also the name of a village nearby) at G-land where huge waves can be found. July to August would be the best time to surf. Many People thinks that G-Land or Plengkung is Grajaga, but it not true, G-Land is beach in front of Grajagan .
